Q:How are residential rates established?
A: Residents account for approximately 75% of the usage of the Landfill/Transfer Stations; After considering the administrative operations, the site operations and ongoing upgrades required by volume and regulations an annual budget is established and mapped to the expected fees. This budget includes providing fee paying Residents "free" recycling and green waste disposal
Q: Why is the Construction and Demolition Waste charged by weight rather than transport vehicle?
A: It is both more equitable (regardless of the vehicle that brings the CD or how loaded it might be) and more efficient for the operation of the Landfill and Billing
Q: Do I really have to pay an Access fee?

Q: Can “dead animals” be brought to the Saratoga or Encampment facility?
A: NO!
- Dept of Environmental Quality rules prohibit the disposal of whole animals or offal (anything liquid) in unlined pits
- The UPRSWDD does not have lined pits, nor does it intend to incur the substantial expense to construct one, for the limited number of users who would use that service
- HOWEVER, UPRSWDD offers Offal Composting at CD rates see Animal Remains under Fees
Q: What can those with dead animals do?

For household pets, farm animals, etc.
- Small animals: bag as you would household waste
2. Large Animals: Call the Transfer Station at (307) 326-9805 to determine
if the body can be accepted within current DEQ mandates
